Healthy and Active Living


Being physically and socially active promotes good health, and helps to maintain mobility, independence and a good quality of life. Participation in recreation and leisure activities also allows older people to be socially active and interact with the local community.

Government initiatives

Since 2003 the Government has committed nearly $6 million to the Office of Senior Victorians to increase active living by seniors through a range of initiatives. Find out more about the Seniors 'Go for your life' Initiative.
