Community Support Fund

The Community Support Fund (CSF) was established by the Victorian Government to direct a portion of gaming revenue back to the community.
Taxes on gaming machines in Victorian hotels contribute more than $100 million each year to the Fund.

The government's priorities for the Community Support Fund during the 2010-2014 period will be:

  • addressing problem gambling risk factors - such as social disadvantage, isolation and the presence of psychological distress and disorder: and
  • building stronger communities - especially in places experiencing rapid population growth and/or places with entrenched disadvantage, by investing in community facilities, supporting community participation and facilitating greater community connectedness.

Funds from the Community Support Fund support a range of programs, which in turn support a wide variety of projects in the community.

Case studies and grant approvals

Learn how CSF funded programs are assisting communities by following links to details on expenditure (Word 130 kb), case studies and grant approvals by program.

This website provides details of all CSF grants approved during the 2008-09 financial year in one central location and information will be updated annually.

It should be noted that while many of the grants listed benefit specific communities, many programs run across several locations or state-wide, therefore any attempt to calculate investment by location will be a significant underestimation.

Investments from the CSF are made based on community need rather than being matched to gaming expenditure in any given area.
